Clippings organized to explain events of World War II leading up to the Japanese invasion in Hawaii and the events following that attack.. Included with the album are nine copies of armed forces newspapers from 1945: Stars & Stripes, Grapevine, Bulletin, and The Hatchet; commemorative issue from the Los Angeles Examiner, "President Dies", 4/13/1945; issue of Life Magazine, 3/28/1938; map depicting the Maginot Line; 21 German adages by the Nazi, Willi Börger; 10 clippings, letters and photo re: Pfc. Carl Olsen and five clippings re: Cpl. William Pattinson. Seventeen miscellaneous items include an insignia inscribed: Ruptured Duck and 30 seconds over Tokyo; photographs, one of Roosevelt dated 1933; German motor vehicle license dated 1944; letter of commendation; information sheet for soldiers returning to civilian life; a plan of the U.S. army transport George Washington; brochure: Great words of great men 1942 Vol. 1; and several loose newspaper clippings. A blue suede case contains a wrist watch from the Alexander Nevsky collection, The 1992 Russian filigree snowflake, inscribed on the back: Captain Walter G. Edwards in appreciation from MGM for Thirty seconds over Tokyo 1944.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born on January 30, 1882, in Hyde Park, New York. He was the son of James (lawyer, financier) and Sara (Delano) Roosevelt. He married Anna Eleanor Roosevelt on March 17, 1905, and had six children: Anna, James, Franklin, Elliott, Franklin Jr., John. He received his B.A. from Harvard in 1904 and later attended Columbia University Law School. Roosevelt was admitted to the Bar in 1907 and worked for the Carter, Ledyard, and Milburn firm in New York City from 1907 to 19...
